Maya Rose Weiss
New York, NY
Maya Rose Weiss began experimenting with weaving, knitting, crocheting and braiding, while growing up in New York State. She has always been captivated by the natural world, and deeply inspired by the alchemy of fibers, intention and the human hand. Drawn to those traditions handed down from mother to daughter, over the course of generations, she seeks to expose the reverence and mystery embedded in hand-made, intuitive forms woven around empty space.
Maya Rose Weiss graduated with Highest Academic Honors and Outstanding Merit from Pratt Institute in May 2018 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Jewelry Design. She exhibited her Jewelry collection (Yayaand) in the Pratt BFA Thesis Jewelry Show in March 2018, and was awarded 3rd Prize sponsored by Rekha-Leigh Punch. Maya has exhibited her work at Wanted Design NYC as well as the Pratt Admissions Gallery.
