Meiyi Yang
Brooklyn, NY
Born and raised in Shenzhen, China, Meiyi embarked on an adventure to New York to complete her MFA in Metal and Jewelry Design at Rochester Institute of Technology, and is currently based in Brooklyn. She is a jewelry maker, self described trouble maker, and happiness maker.
Dedicated to pursuing her passions, Meiyi draws inspiration from the minor details that are often missed when living life too fast. Her deep interest in fashion and garment design allows her creativity to transcend the traditional metalsmithing process.
Meiyi believes in love, freedom, and gender equality; and her designs embody the internal struggle of womanhood. Her work is delicate but conveys strength, serving as symbolic armor for everyday heroines. She uses jewelry as a creative platform to express the manifesto that every woman is strong.
Brooklyn Navy Yard Community Market proudly hosts Meiyi Yang’s work in the Community Open Studio Market.
