Andrea Rosales-Balcarcel
Jersey City, NJ
Born in Guatemala City, Andrea Rosales-Balcarcel migrated to the United States with her family as a child. Growing up only hours outside of New York, Andrea became drawn to the city. With a desire to pursue a career in the arts, Andrea chose to attend Pratt Institute in 2012, for a BFA in Jewelry and a minor in Art History. Lost by her surroundings she mapped herself to New York City through the act of walking, forming a fascination with the relationship of identity and environment. She explores this concept with her collection “Walking Manhattan,” using watercolor sketching as a medium to focus on the documentation of tangible sights and intangible emotion.
Now based in Jersey City, she continues to develop her work as an artist. Since graduating from Pratt, she has had the opportunity to participate in multiple international shows, including LOOT: Mad About Jewelry in New York City, in 2017, as well as in Artistar Jewels in Milan, 2018.
Artists and Fleas proudly hosts a workshop presented by Andrea Rosales-Balcarel at their Williamsburg location during NYCJW.
